Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You, to all who came out to support our July 12th benefit car show. Last count I heard was 427 cars attending this years show, and thousands of dollars raised for charity. Pictures (including class winners) and video will be posted soon.
Special thanks to 102.9 WDRC-FM and Lisa the promotion diva for their support of this years show, all the radio ads leading up to the event, and the great CT Staycation guides they sahred with attendees.
Also a special thanks to Bob Rumbold of Fox 61 Sports for taking Sunday afternoon (after working them for so many years) to meet and greet, and award our trophies. Also want to thank Duncan Haimerl of the Hartford Courant for taking the time to attend and meet and greet his fans during the show. There was a constant line of Duncan fans waiting to chat with the Saturday paper motoring columnist.
A BIG thanks goes out to Tom Arcese who gave up his weekend to be with us all the way from Long Island NY. Tom and his sons came to share his one of a kind custom show car, Coppercino. They also donated a calendar featuring his car as a show prize, which he autographed for one lucky show attendant. They spent their day answering questions about Coppercino and handing out auotgraphed posters. Tom is a class act with a classy car.
Last but not least I want to thank all the club members who worked so hard to make the show a great success. It's our members dedication and hard work that made the whole show possiable, we may not be the biggest car club in the state, but what we lack in size we make up for in dedication. Our members are the greatest!

TODAY's Weather is cooperating. The Annual Show WILL GO ON TODAY. Don't worry, we will hold a spot for you, if you should care to wait for the roads to dry out. The show will run until 3pm. A little rain is leaving the very eastern edge of CT as this message is being composed, and will be nowhere in sight of the car show today. Be safe.

July 12, 2009 is the date for this years Valley Collector Car Club's annual show. This year we have a lot of great activities that we hope will become traditions for future Valley Collector Car Club Shows.
Lisa "The Promotions Diva" and the DRC-FM prize van will be featured in our center car show field. Lisa feels being The Promotions Diva, is a very unique position. She is usually the first to arrive at an event, and the last to leave.
For the Valley Collector Car Club show Lisa decorates the area, greets DRC-FM listeners, and gives them a chance to win something nice. Lisa says; “One of the most important parts of my job is supporting the many charity events we sponsor in our community. It's always a great feeling to work for a radio station that actually cares about the people in the community”. Lisa, I couldn’t have said it better myself. The Valley Collector Car Club truly appreciates the support you and DRC-FM provide to our show each year, your stations resources and time donated to our car club are invaluable.
Special Guest Vehicle “Coppercino” a 1941 Willy’s one-of-a-kind custom show car will display as guests of the Valley Collector Car Club. Owner and builder, Thomas Arcese, of Long Island, NY has given up his weekend to be with us, in our efforts to raise money for charity.
Tom’s ride is an Outlaw Coupe, with a 540 Chevy Big Block, w/871 Weiand Blower, JE pistons, Manley rods, Dart Aluminum heads, MSD ignition, Kooks custom headers, a turbo 400 trans, a Mark Williams 4-link custom wishbone rear-end, and Willwood brakes.
You can see the ZO6 seats, Flaming River steering column and custom leather interior, but it is the overall car that really grabs ya. Grabbed a couple of big awards too. Don’t miss seeing this nationally touring show car! EXCLUSIVELY showing at the Valley Collector Car Club’s 8th Annual Charity Benefit Car Show.
The Hartford Courant’s Duncan Haimerl will be avaiable for a meet and great, and help award our trophies. Duncan has a weekly feature in the Saturday Hartford Courant where he answers readers automotive questions, and also tests the latest and greatest cars and trucks Detroit and others have to offer.
The Connecticut Valley Die Cast Club (CVD) will also be at this years show with their 40 foot racetrack. CVD is a club formed to enjoy, preserve, and protect the hobby of die-cast car collecting. Kids (young and old) bring your Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning's or Matchbox cars to race at this years show. If Hot Wheel Racing isn't your style, we'll also have a slot car race track. You'll be able to rent track time, race your freind's, and show them who has better racing skills.
Simsbury’s Engine 1, a 1935 International/American LaFrance C-Model with a 500 GPM pump and a 150 gallon water tank will also be at our show. Engine 1 was originally purchased by the Ensign-Bickford Company for their fire brigade.
The Simsbury Fire District acquired Engine 1 when the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company assumed responsibility for the town's fire protection in 1944. Engine 1 was stationed at the Main Fire House and answered it's last alarm in 1975. The apparatus was restored in 1991 by Fire Company members, and although Engine 1 is fully operational it is primarily used as a show piece in parades and at public events.
